How to find a slot's RTP: game rules, provider pages and operator help pages
Open the slot's information or rules screen, usually behind an "i" or menu button, and find the line that states the theoretical RTP. Then compare it with the figure on the game maker's own page. If the two differ, ask the operator which version it runs; the in-game rules describe the copy in front of you.

Where is a slot's RTP written?
A slot's RTP can turn up in three places: the information or rules screen inside the game, the provider's own web page for the game, and the operator's help or game rules pages. Start inside the game, because that screen belongs to the copy you are actually looking at. For what the percentage itself means, see what RTP in slots means.
Do not expect every source to carry a number. On 29 October 2026, some provider pages listed one RTP, one listed four, and one listed none at all.
Step 1: open the game information screen
Look near the bet controls for a small "i" button, a question mark or a menu icon. These open the pay table and the written game rules.
In Pragmatic Play's free demo of Sweet Bonanza, the "i" at the bottom left opens a screen headed "Game rules" that runs to seven pages. Page one lists what 8-9, 10-11 and 12+ matching symbols pay at the current bet. The rules text in that demo gives two RTP lines, a maximum and a minimum for the game, rather than a single figure.
A demo lets you open these screens without staking money; the guide to free demo slots and what demo mode is explains its limits. Note the figure, the game's name and the date you saw it.
Step 2: compare it with the provider's game page
Search the provider's own website for the game's name rather than relying on review or listing sites. The pages in the table keep game facts in a small block near the description, under headings such as "Basic Game Info", "Game data" or "Game stats".
The table records what five provider pages showed on 29 October 2026. Pragmatic Play, Big Time Gaming and Nolimit City each listed one figure. Hacksaw Gaming listed four for a single game, and Play'n GO's Book of Dead page gave the release date, game type and theme but no RTP.
| Game | Provider | Where it appears on the page | RTP shown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sweet Bonanza | Pragmatic Play | "Basic Game Info" block under the description | 96.48% |
| Wanted Dead or a Wild | Hacksaw Gaming | "Game data" block, beside volatility and max win | 96.38%; 94.55%; 92.33%; 88.42% |
| Bonanza | Big Time Gaming | "Game stats" block, beside 117,649 ways | 96.00% |
| Mental | Nolimit City | Stats strip under the description, and the page title | 96.08% |
| Book of Dead | Play'n GO | Header block with release date (14 January 2016), game type and theme | None shown |
One figure on a provider page is the value the provider publishes for that game. It does not prove that every casino runs that version. Where a provider lists several figures, its page cannot tell you which one a given casino offers.
Step 3: check the operator's help or game rules page
Under regulation 45(1) of the Gambling Control (Conduct of Gambling Operations) Regulations, 2026, a person running online gambling must make sure the game rules are clearly displayed on the approved platform before any wager. Under regulation 45(4), each game's theoretical RTP percentage goes to the Gambling Regulatory Authority. Neither paragraph says the percentage must also be put in front of players.
So read the operator's help, terms or game rules pages too. If an RTP appears there, it should match the in-game figure; if the two differ, ask support in writing which version is installed and keep the reply. Whether the operator holds a licence at all is a separate check, set out in are online slots legal in Kenya.
Step 4: keep a record of what you found
Write down the game's name, the provider, each figure you found, where you found it and the date. A screenshot of the rules page showing the RTP line is better than a note.
The record matters if a question comes up later. It shows which figure applied when you played, and it gives the operator's support team, or the regulator, something specific to look at.
Why might the figures not match?
Versions are one reason. Hacksaw Gaming's four figures for Wanted Dead or a Wild run from 88.42% to 96.38%, a gap of 7.96 percentage points. Illustrative example: on every KES 1,000 staked, that gap is worth KES 79.60 in expected cost.
Game modes are another. Sweet Bonanza's rules state a maximum and a minimum RTP instead of one figure, and test labs split a game into parts: BMM Testlabs wants separate RTP figures for the base game, for features and mini-games, and for the whole game. Features you can pay to enter are covered in the bonus buy feature in slots.
The Sweet Bonanza rules show why a mode can change the maths. With the ante bet on, the bet multiplier rises from 20x to 25x, more scatter symbols are placed on the reels, and the option to buy the free spins round is switched off. A different mix of outcomes can carry a different RTP.
The live setup is a third. BMM Testlabs lists the production game configuration among the materials it validates against the maths model. When a provider's web page and a game's own rules disagree, the rules screen is the closer description of the copy in front of you.
What if you cannot find any figure?
If the game, the provider and the operator all stay silent, do not borrow a number from another game or another website. Ask the operator in writing which RTP applies to the game in its lobby, and keep the answer.
Section 10(m) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025 lists receiving and determining complaints from the public about games of chance among the functions of the Gambling Regulatory Authority. Once you have a figure, the RTP calculator turns it into an expected cost for your stake and number of spins.
Questions and answers
Where is the RTP shown inside a slot game?
In the game rules, which open from an "i", question mark or menu button near the bet controls. In Pragmatic Play's free demo of Sweet Bonanza, the "i" at the bottom left opens seven pages of rules, and the rules text gives a maximum and a minimum RTP for the game. Write down the figure and the date you saw it.
Why is the RTP in the game different from the provider's website?
A likely reason is that the provider makes more than one version of the game. Hacksaw Gaming publishes four RTPs for Wanted Dead or a Wild, from 88.42% to 96.38%, and does not say which casino runs which. Bet modes such as an ante bet can also carry their own figure. The rules inside the game describe the copy you are using.
Do Kenyan rules require casinos to show RTP to players?
Not in so many words. Under regulation 45(1) of the 2026 Conduct Regulations, an online operator must show the game rules clearly on its platform before a wager is placed. Under regulation 45(4), the theoretical RTP of every game goes to the Gambling Regulatory Authority. Regulation 45 contains no line saying that players must be shown the percentage.
Can I check a slot's RTP without an account?
Often, yes. Provider web pages are public, and four of the five in this guide's table showed a figure without any login; Play'n GO's Book of Dead page showed none. Pragmatic Play's page for Sweet Bonanza also offers a free demo with its rules screen. The figure at a particular casino may still differ from the provider's page.
What if a slot shows no RTP anywhere?
Do not assume a figure taken from another game or website. Ask the operator in writing which RTP applies and keep the reply. If the matter is not resolved, Section 10(m) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025 gives the Gambling Regulatory Authority the function of receiving and determining complaints from the public on matters about games of chance.
